Mount Evans is the easiest 14er to bag, since the summit is only 140 feet of elevation above the parking lot. The Mount Evans Scenic Byway is the highest paved road in North America, taking you up to 14,130 feet, only a short hike away from the summit of Mount Evans (14,270 ft). In August of 2011 I flew to Denver to give a talk at the American Chemical Society National Meeting, and was able to take a day off to drive into the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
