Illuminating Object Histories: Provenance Research at SUAC was an installation I curated at the Stanford University Archaeology Collections. The exhibit highlighted the work of three Provenance Research Interns and examined how research into an object’s history, creation, cultural context, and ownership can reveal new understandings of collections.
I also supervised a series of small student-curated case exhibits that transformed the SUAC classroom into a dynamic space for collections research, curatorial training, and showcasing student work. Drawing objects from the permanent collection, interns developed themes, selected objects, and created interpretive materials. These projects provided students with hands-on experience in the curatorial and exhibit development process while activating more of the permanent collection and inviting new perspectives on its diverse objects and histories.
