Audrey Flack’s “Time to Save”

Produced in August 2022 as part of the Yale University Art Gallery’s E-Gallery Talk series, this short video explores Time to Save (1979), a photorealist painting by Audrey Flack in the museum’s permanent collection. Inspired by a lesson I led for the first-year physics course “Expanding Ideas of Time and Space,” I consider how Flack’s painting and a photograph of the same name invite us to reflect on the nature and passage of time.
