Plaster Casts: Artistic and Cultural Pedagogy

I presented a talk titled “Plaster Casts: Artistic and Cultural Pedagogy” as part of the Material Culture Lunch series hosted by the Yale Center for the Study of American Art and Material Culture. The theme for the Spring 2022 lecture series was “Material Culture and Education.”

A subsequent version of the paper will appear in the edited volume Echoes, Ripples, Wake: Casting Art and Flesh (eds. Y. Biro & N. Étienne, De Gruyter Brill, 2026) in a chapter titled “Cast-in-Place: The Reactivation of Nineteenth-Century Plaster Casts in Brutalist Architecture.”
